Achieving universal cancer care requires precision and personalized medicine

Oscar Segurado, MD, PhD writes in an opinion blog for The Hill (2/6, 1.25M) that the Cancer Moonshot Initiative has “initiated the mobilization of scientists, physicians, and healthcare stakeholders” with the goal to better cancer care. But, “achieving universal cancer care,” Dr. Segurado contends, “requires precision and personalized medicine, as well as integrated care, a multi-dimensional approach to ensure patients in need are aware of and have access to life-saving treatments.” He adds that to “achieve truly personalized care, our healthcare system should integrate technology with the human touch.”
